I will not place them in order of difficulty nor are they rank in what the market place recommends you to do, the best coders are self-thought so any of these options is an acceptable route to success on becoming a coder.

1. Computer Sciences Degree

I wanted to get this one over quick since it will only apply to individuals that are young and are looking for an education that will put them on the fast track to getting a high tech job.

You will get a diploma, though it’s very useful while applying for a job and even LinkedIn has it as a filter on many of their job posting you have to take in to account that companies value more the experience and usually will ask what have you done In the last 6 months than ask you how where your grades at school.

Building your portfolio might be a better project to focus on and you can do this while you develop your coding skills.

There are some institutions that will give you a formal and very practical formation as a coder, they will make sure you learn and apply what they teach you and it’s by far one of the best ways to learn simply because they hold you accountable for the process you are undertaking at the time.

If you are smart you will search for a school that will not charge you any money until you find a job and they will take a cut out of your paycheck, you might think is a bit weird and people with a scarcity mindset will say why are they taking my money.

You do not pay until the skills they provide you land you a job.

2. Coding Boot Camps

This is one of the most popular ways to get your coding career started and the best way to squeeze a ton of information in the shortest time possible, you can google and you will find thousands of online programs and onsite camps that will help you on learning the fastest way possible, please understand that this will not guarantee you a job.

I only name these companies since there are on the top of mind of many people unless you are in China, which you would find their equivalents in their market.

3. Database (FAST TRACK)

Actually a data interaction Database expert in a language called SQL sequel, this language is the Databases is where the data is stored so what you can do is become one language and it’s not even a programming language so to speak its primary language used to interact with databases so you just need to learn one and that’s a big thing,  the other great thing about this is that is not so complicated and it might just take you about 2 months to get good at it.

You can also compliment with tableu for data analysis, with this 2 set of skills you are employable, after this you can start dipping your toes into more complex programming languages an get a good idea of where you want to go.

4. SELF TAUGHT CODER

Ok, you might be wondering if you should take this route.

For starters, this is the longest way to achieve your goal. But first, let me put a bit of context since this route is the taken by most of the great coders of our time, do not misunderstand me at some point if you want to achieve something great you’re going to have to try something new and out of the box, this is entering the self-taught route.

Is it difficult?

there are many variables to be able to tell you yes or no. there are some factors that might be in your favor if you have those skills and traits.

This is the most discouraging route to take because if you don’t have a goal and the will to overtake hours of research and heartbreaking frustration you will probably end with hate in your heart for the coding world and regret spending any time on learning this skill.
