Can Laptops Cause Cancer? What To Do!

Since I was young I remember people saying to stay far from computer screens and from the back of the CPU because it could cause me cancer well that’s what everyone was saying back then. This is back when computer machines were bulky as hell many of you won’t remember but here is a pic for reference, but in today’s age Can Laptops Cause Cancer?

So Can Laptops Cause Cancer?

Can Laptops Cause Cancer

Recent scientific evidence suggests that there is no relationship between using a portable (laptop) computer and cancer, and there are still ongoing studies.

What Can Cause Cancer From Laptops?

Most theories about laptops and cancer relate to heat, electromagnetic radiation, or radiation from wireless networks (WiFi).

So the real question might be if WIFI, Heat, and Electromagnetic radiation or Radiation Cause Cancer?

And the simple answer is yes in the right amounts any of these can cause a person to develop cancer cells, but that’s not what we ask exactly can I get those amounts from my laptop well know, and with the passing of the years and technology getting better at resolving radiation and heating problems it will be more difficult for anyone to develop cancer from using a laptop.

Laptops And Testicular Cancer?

Because people keep laptops close to their reproductive organs, it could potentially lead to testicular and ovarian cancer.

Korman, the dermatologist, and director of the clinical trials department at the University Clinics Case Medical Center in Cleveland said that the medical name for roasted skin syndrome is erythema ab igne, which means redness from fire, if this keeps going on long term you are more prone to develop cancer cell in the area.

With a computer (desktop computer or laptop), many studies have been conducted over the years to determine whether there are health risks.

To some extent, there is a bit of radiation that a computer releases, but in very small amounts (if any).

When you look at a lot of research studies, there doesn’t seem to be a link between computer use and the increase in the risk of cancer.

Laptop on Lap Studies

There are studies on laptop use when the laptop sits on the user’s lap.

With prolonged use and exposure, it is thought that they could potentially cause testicular cancer in men, but there is no scientific evidence to support this suspicion or claim.

They don’t name specific cases of skin cancer when using laptops, but their study suggested placing a carrying case or pad between your body and the laptop.

While the idea of using your laptop on your bare skin and causing cancer sounds bizarre, it turns out it may contain an ounce of truth. World Cancer Day, an initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), classified cancer as carcinoma, sarcoma, lymphoma and myeloma, leukemia, and brain and spinal cord cancer.

Ex vivo exposure of human spermatozoa to a Wi-Fi-connected laptop decreased motility and induced DNA fragmentation through a non-thermal effect. A laptop may seem completely harmless, but it receives wireless Internet signals (microwaves) and emits EMFs.

Andreas Arnold and Peter Itin from Basel University Hospital conducted a study that found some evidence that a hot laptop could cause skin damage that could develop into skin cancer.

Prolonged use of a laptop confuses sleep patterns and causes neck and pain due to constant bending over the screen.

And you may have heard that having a laptop on your lap could potentially be harmful to your health.

Ronald Melnick, Ph.D., a toxicologist at the National Institute of Health who led the study, explains: “For children, the risk of cancer may be higher than that for adults because cell phone radiation is more penetrated and absorbed into children’s brains, and because children’s developing nervous systems are more vulnerable to tissue-damaging agents.

Andreas Arnold and Peter Itin from Basel University Hospital found that a hot laptop could lead to skin damage on your lap that could even develop into skin cancer.

This condition, also known as “erythema ab igne,” develops over time depending on how much the laptop is used on the lap and how hot it usually gets.

However, my curiosity overcame me and I started googling whether using a laptop as I’ve always used it could harm my lap and the results were shocking.

We speculate that connecting a laptop wirelessly on your lap near the testicles can lead to decreased male fertility.

Ecomputer, a website that provides details about computers, described a laptop as a microprocessor technology, which is a small, relatively inexpensive computer designed to be used by one person at home or in an office.

Conclusion

In conclusion, research has not been able to prove that laptops give you cancer, but is not able to rule the theory out. When the Bluebook laptop ban was proposed, it was met with opposition from industry, school boards, and researchers because of the lack of evidence. Even still, the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s review concluded that exposures to RF (radio frequency) emissions from laptops were well below the level that could cause tissue damage, cell mutations, and cancer.
