There are very few things in life that we can’t learn from others.
Ethernet cables are dirty cheap, but you still need to know which one will work the best for you.
Sometimes, the source of knowledge is as simple as exchanging ideas with other significant people.
In a way, this article will be a compilation of some of the best resources I have found on ethernet cables and what you need to know about them.

Ethernet cable types
The use of Ethernet cables in the modern world is no longer a novel idea.
Yet many people still don’t know what they are and why they are used.
The distance between two Ethernet ports is determined by the number of wires that connect the two ends.
Each port has only one wire connecting to it, so there are only two possibilities:
1) The cable has only one connection; or
2) There is a second connection between the cable and the port.
If you have connections, then you have both options.
If you have only one option, then you need to know which option you have if you want to connect your computer to your router.
A quick look at your device’s network settings will let you know which type of connection it has, for example, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
If WPS is set on, then there will be two connections in all cases (the first connection from the device, and the second connection via an Ethernet cable).
If WPS isn’t set on (or if WPS isn’t turned ON), then there will be one connection from the device to each port—a single port per device.
The same scenario applies for wired networks with wireless access points or using some kind of wireless technology such as 802.11b/g/n: one wired connection per access point or router.
You can connect one device to each access point or router by using an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi access points or routers; however, this should be avoided because both types of network cables can give false readings when trying to identify if a network is secure or not as well as giving false readings when connecting computers and other devices that use wired network connections through them (for example printers).
If Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) isn’t set on, then there will be two connections in all cases (the first connection from the device and the second connection via an Ethernet cable), but there will also be one more possibility:
1) The wire between each access point has neither Wi-Fi nor Ethernet ports.
In this case, it would be either secure without any wires connecting it to anything else, or insecure without any wires connecting it to anything else—this can happen with antennas too; in this case, a computer connected through an Ethernet cable needs to be connected through an antenna instead . . . although technically there shouldn’t be any antenna
Which is the best Ethernet cable for you?
The ethernet cable market is a complex one and it has many different types of cables to choose from, however, the best kind of ethernet cable for your needs will depend on what you need.

Another study published in 2013 by researchers at MIT concluded that usage of wirelessly connected devices increases the quality of life for users who can now choose their own Wi-Fi network rather than having commercial Wi-Fi hotspots available for every neighborhood.
The results were even more remarkable when compared to older studies which demonstrated that users experiencing reduced latency were able to enjoy independent travel as well as social networking enhancements.
Cat 7 and Cat 7a
The ethernet cable is an electrical conductor with a diameter of 100-120mm. It is used for the transmission of information and data between computers, mobile devices, and printers.

So basically, I grew up with ethernet cables as everyone else did until recently when all of these new startup companies started using them for their websites — this caused me to wonder what they did.
What do they do? How do they work? What can you use them for? Where do you find them? How can you use them to your advantage? So here I am writing about them because really, there are only two ways that you can use ethernet cables:

STP (Shielded Twisted Pairs) is the latest security standard that has emerged in recent years to reduce network risk.
It’s a good thing because it’s kind of a pain when you need to troubleshoot.
Here’s how to make your life more convenient when dealing with STP:
1. Turn off the internet and any other services that require an internet connection.
2. Turn off your cell phone modem/router/switch modem/router/switch, etc.
3. If you have an ethernet cable, use it with your computer rather than that jack on the back of your modem or router; this will give you more flexibility if you have multiple computers on one network and need to do some port forwarding or port mirroring for different ports on those computers (e.g., for an office with several laptops in different locations and a CD ROM for backup purposes).
4. Check your passwords often as well as keep them secure by using encryption like HTTPS or SSH instead of unencrypted HTTP protocols like http://www.google.com/. If you have sensitive information stored on the device, take extra measures so it is protected from prying eyes by encrypting it before storing it on the device (like going through the trouble of turning off automatic updates).
5. Have a secure password set up so that anyone who tries to access your account over an unsecured part of your network won’t be able to do anything without having access to all the details of what they are doing (this can be done by using something like LastPass). I leave this as an exercise for you — if there’s any doubt whether someone is trying to hack into your account over an unsecured part of your network, turn off automatic updates and get yourself a password manager like LastPass or 1Password before doing anything else!
FTP or SFTP (Foiled Twisted Pairs):
The ethernet cables were the first technology available to connect computers to each other. They are very cheap and easy to use.
Unfortunately, they will only run between the two computers.
They cannot reach far away from the computer. The best way to connect your computer with the internet is via an FTP downloader or SFTP client, which is free and open-source software, (often referred to as “FTP” for “File Transfer Protocol”) which allows you to upload and download files from one location on your computer to another.
This can be done by connecting your computer directly to the internet, or by using a proxy server which is an internet service provider that forwards requests from your computer to another’s server over the internet.
